The Unicorns came into the kmatch with confidence after beating the Magpies in the recent Coolah Knockout.
Although Coona took first points when they made the most of some ordinary Magpie defense, the Maggies quickly regrouped and responded with their own try.
Coona scored again giving them a 10 to four lead, but this was the last of the celebrations for the Unicorns as the Maggies took control of the game in the middle of the park and put on a scoring display for hte enthusiastic crowd.
Orchestrated by player Sonia McMaster, the Magpies took a 14-10 lead into the half-time break.
It was all the Magpies in the final 25 minutes scoring a further 14 points to give them an exciting win at home, 28-10.
Georgia Seymour stood out along with Sonia McMaster for her efforts in attack and defence and a big wrap also must go to Rachel Herbert and "speedy gonzalis" Isobella Cameron for their solid defence.
The men's Rugby League team went into the game like the women's team, having been defeated by the Unicorns at the Coolah Carnival.
Although the Unicorns scored first the Magpies were determined to not let the game slip away like last weekend and replied with a nice try from new recuit Lloy Kennedy.
The Unicorns were low on troops for the day and tested the Magpie outfit for the duration of hte game.
They were rewarded witha second try to put them in front 12-6.
From here the Magpies pack were leading from the front by frontrowers Scott Behsman and Dylan Hohnberg.
This go forward gave the Magpies the metres needed to put the Unicorns defence under pressure and scored two tries in concession.
The Unicorns were not about to give in and made the must of some luck luster defence by the Magpies to score outwide.
But to no avail the Magpies put on another try through a nice passage of play to take a half time lead of 24-16.
The second half of football was an entertaining and edge of your seat encouter which saw the vocal crowd willing the Magpies on.

The crowd was preempting what could be, before the Unicorns got momentum from Magpie mistakes and capitalised two tries to bring the margin to one converted try.
In what seemed like the longest 15 minutes of football, local Jesse Hamilton shut the gate on the Unicorn's comeback, by running away to score under the posts in front of a very jubilent crowd.

Makaira Skinner was named player's player after an awesome display of powerful running and defence.
He was assisted by strong running from the forward pack.
Halfback Nathan Toole lead his troops around the park well, which contributed to a composed team effort from the boys.
