Our Under 13s raced to a 31-0 lead before Parkes crossed for two converted tries. Narromine refocussed to score the last tries: final score 50-14.
Gorilla tries were scored by Jordan Itoya (showing the pace of a winger), Harry Vincent, Nash Rodda, Will Pollard (three), Jack Bell and Tom Masonwells.
Reg McPherson was prominent in the kitchen, a couple of tackles by Vincent and Bell were straight from the textbook, while Carlos Nykolyn is proving himself a natural five-eighth (and what a stunning Carlos conversion from the sideline).
Early tackle attempts on some of the big Parkes Under 15 lads could neither be described as low or effective.
The Parkes number 8 left roadkill in his wake: 0-7.
Lachy Bible, vigorously in the action all game, crossed twice for the good guys, for a 14-7 lead at oranges.
Zarrin Galea, another natural five-eighth (in the absence of Aiden Butcher), scored the last try after a great run: final score 19-7.
Billy Hamilton, Harry Krueger and Billy Cooper impressed the sideline pundits.
The Senior Gorillas, after bus troubles, car-pooled to sunny Bathurst, their efforts on the field were solid in the main, but unsuccessful.
Both Colts and Firsts went down 12-36, while seconds lost 5-46 (after being ahead 5-0 for 20 minutes).
Liam Heterick, Morgan Gleeson, Zeke McNaught and the multi-skilled Troy Lindsay (who played, variously, prop, second row, blind breakaway, lock, inside centre and right wing) took the field at some stage in each game.
Best and fairest points and players' players (PP) for Colts, Bryce Mallon 3. Best and fairest points, Tom Gillespie 2 and Heterick 1, with Jack Colledge judged PP; for Seconds, Greg Wynn 3, Troy Lindsay 2 and Jay Walsh 1, with Kale Bock PP; for Firsts, Mick Harris 3, Billy Rybak 2 and Liam Heterick 1, with Craig Campbell PP. According to our guest reporter, Firsts were fairly dominant at scrum and lineout, but were out-enthused at the breakdown, turning over possession on several occasions.
CSU Bathurst were also apparently pretty slick out wide.
Narromine's tries were scored by Ryan Pratten and Kane Fernando.
Tomorrow the under 15s play in Dubbo while the Senior Gorillas play the formidable Orange City at home.
Next week on Saturday May 30, both Junior and Senior Gorillas are at Royal Cale Oval: YAY!
(NB.General Bye: Saturday June 6). GO THE GORILLAS!
