In 2014 more than 500 locals joined the Orana Relay For Life and proudly raised a grand total of $66,072.
The local Orana Relay For Life Volunteer Organising Committee is back at it again and has been busy preparing an action-packed, fun-filled event fit for the whole family.
This year the fundraising goal is set at $70,000 which will assist the Cancer Council NSW to conduct vital cancer research and provide support for local people affected by cancer.
The upcoming Relay For Life, held over the weekend of November 7-8 at our brand new venue DCL Park, is going to be full of costume flair as the committee is thrilled to announce that this year's event will have a 'Superheroes' theme, so get dressed up and deck out your campsites too. Of course there will be spot prizes for inventive costumes.
The terrific theme is just one of the many reasons why teams should get registering for the Orana Relay For Life 2015, and the committee hopes it will be a record-breaking year in terms of participants - both returning and new.
Jason Dearmer, from the Volunteer Organising Committee, is encouraging everyone to get involved.
"As a brand new committee member, I am very much looking forward to this year's relay. As with every previous relay, we are sure that the Orana community will get behind this great event. It is really remarkable the community spirit that we have here in Dubbo and the wider community. Teams not only turn up on the day and have a wonderful time, but the support that is shown in fundraising prior to the event is so inspiring.
"This is one of the reasons why the Relay Committee enjoys going the extra mile to bring such a fun and worthwhile event to the region.
"We are so excited about our brand new venue and date, we are sure it will bring a whole new element to the event and we are encouraging everyone to come along. One thing is for sure - it will be an entertaining and action-packed weekend for all ages."
