The whole team performed with confidence and professionalism.
We took out ribbons for grand champion steer and reserve champion steer.
Jack Davison achieved fourth place in the novice paraders and third in the junior judging section.
Well done to Mrs McCutcheon, Mr McIntyre and the entire show team for the many hours of preparation that go into achieving such results.
The show team will be very busy in the coming months, with attendances at many of the local area shows.
Narromine High hosted the Legacy Public Speaking - Western Area competition for 2015.
Our students excelled in their roles as chairperson and timekeepers, ensuring the day ran smoothly.
Schools across the west were invited to nominate two speakers up to 14 years of age to give two speeches; one a prepared speech and the other an impromptu.
Our speakers, Melissa Healey and Ella Geyer, are to be congratulated on their presentations.
Both spoke with confidence and engaged their audience well.
Schools from Dunedoo, Coonabarabran, Parkes and Bathurst were in attendance, with Brittany Doolan from Coonabarabran High being named the overall winner on the day.
Community links were the main focus of Education Week for our school this year.
A parent/teacher night was held with parents taking the opportunity to meet with their children's teachers and discuss their progress.
A group of students also visited Timbrebongie House where they entertained residents with musical items and spent time playing a variety of board and card games.
Our students are always well received at Timbrebongie and genuinely enjoy the experience of visiting the residents.
As part of our ongoing transition program 150 year 5 and 6 students from Narromine Public, Narromine Christian and St Augustine's Primary schools enjoyed a sports day hosted by year 7, 10 and 11 students.
The students were mixed into groups and moved around our school enjoying a variety of sports such as netball, touch football, indoor soccer, table tennis, badminton, handball, t-ball and Newcombe ball.
The day was about having fun and making new friends and was a success by all accounts.
Year 11 Legal Studies students from Narromine High and Dubbo Distance School of Education travelled to Sydney last week and enjoyed a glimpse into the legal world.
Accompanied by Mr Kiernan from NHS and Mrs Woods from Distance Ed, they visited the Downing Centre District Courts and were given an overview of court procedures.
They were treated to a very informative session with Judge Sahra and attended question time at State Parliament.
Our students were privileged to attend the opening of the Magna Carta exhibition at Parliament House with the Speaker and President of the Chamber.
The excursion was very beneficial to our students' understanding of the legal system.
The legal professionals they had contact with were very generous with their time and went out of their way to make it a very enjoyable experience.
Term three has been another busy one on the sporting field.
The under-14s and under-16s boys' 15-a-side rugby teams competed in Dubbo.
Both teams played well and came away with one win from three games.
Lakeisha Hull attended the NRL Open Girls League Tag competition in Coonabarabran as part of the Trangie Central School team.
Congratulations to the Trangie Central team who won the day and to Lakeisha who was voted player of the day by participating teams.
Our U15 boys and girls basketball teams took the court against Dubbo South Campus, Gilgandra and Mudgee High Schools.
The boys won against Mudgee in a very low scoring defensive game.
The girls have progressed to the next CHS level and will play in Orange later in the term with wins over Gilgandra and Mudgee.
Narromine High students and staff raised an amazing $700 on Jeans for Genes Day which will go towards research into better understanding the causes of debilitating childhood illnesses.
The day was initiated by Emily Abbott and, with her support team of Abbey Geyer, Emily Sharwood, Amelia Corcoran, Sam Willoughby, Troy Harding, Cameron Simmons, Mark Coleman, Holly Monaghan, Caitlin Semmler and Di Sinclair, proved to be a huge success.
As well as the wear denim donations, a fundraising BBQ was very well supported and the result is a great testament to the generous community spirit of NHS students and staff.
WESTERN AREA ATHLETICS
Narromine High students enjoyed the new purpose-built athletics facilities in Dubbo as they competed at the Western Area Athletics trials recently.
Our students were competitive on the day and 10 athletes have qualified to compete at the CHS State Championships at Sydney Olympic Park in September.
