In a good field last Wednesday, Rusty McKenzie streeted the opposition to win the weekly nine-hole competition for Geriatric Golfers which was played on the back nine of Royal Narromine course.
Thirteen players participated in glorious weather conditions.
McKenzie took advantage of the favourable conditions and his handicap to return a score of 28 stableford points and win the competition from Chris Harding on 25.
Harding defeated Mal Fraser, also on 25, on a count back.
No doubt the handicapper will be looking at some adjustments for this afternoon’s comp.
Pom also won the Nearest the pin. The Gerries welcomed a new member Ian Morgan, hope you had a good afternoon Ian.
In the clubhouse, the pool competition attracted a great deal of attention.
In the opening round, Rusty was trying for a double when he teamed with Tiger.
Alas the double was not to be as they went down to Terry and Norm in a tight battle.
John Moss and Chris Harding met Terry Willis and Norm Lewis in the final and what a match it was.
At one stage it looked as though there might have been some embarrassment however the challengers sank a couple of balls only to go down very convincingly to the favourites Chris Harding and John Moss.
This afternoon the competition will be a two-person ambrose on the front nine with the hit off at the usual time of 2.30pm.
See you all on the tee.
