Nine rifle shooters experienced some frustrating wind conditions at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday when competition was held over 700 yards.
The cold south breeze that had been present all week wreaked havoc among shooters as scores fell due to the almost unreadable conditions.
While some shooters shot under favorable wind in their first stage, their second stage suffered due to the changes
At the end of the first stage, Norm Brown had a hit of 45/50 in A-grade and Alan Taylor had scored 55/60 in F-class to hold the lead.
The second stage brought about some changes and Brown fired a better 47/50 to win the A-grade badge, while in F-class, Rob Rainbow fired a 55/60 to score a narrow win by one point from Scott Monaghan 103/120 to 102/120.
The weekly handicap trophy went to Colin Walsh who is starting to fire up in F-class.
The “pin-hole” escaped with some near misses to jack-pot for next week.
Next Saturday, shooting is from 800 yards starting at 12.30pm.
