About 30 Gorillas welcomed 26 under 11s and under 13s juniors and 12 parents from Sydney’s northern beaches, kicking off with two games of cricket on Friday afternoon.
Played at Dundas Park and Rotary Park, the scoresheets were lost but both games amazingly ended in a draw.
Saturday morning kicked off with several quarters of rugby refereed by first-grade umpire Stacey Irvine, with players intermingling between teams.
It was not all about the footy though, with the tourists getting to visit the alpaca farm, followed by visits to the Browning’s farm and the Wilson’s farm to get a feel for farm life and watch some shearing.
The Cougars headed back to Sydney on Sunday and had a safe trip back across the mountains.
It was a terrific weekend for all involved, with players and parents alike mingling, building friendships and forming strong bonds between the two clubs.
The favour will be returned in 2016, with the Cougars offering to host the Gorillas in Sydney next year.
