The 12-day event, starting Monday, is for everyone not just people interested in gliding.
John Styles from the Gliding Federation of Australia has invited everyone out to the aerodrome to have a look.
"The gliders will be launching some time between 12.30pm and 1.30 pm each day and you can watch from outside the main building at the airfield," he said.
The aerodrome is buzzing with activity as the 16 to 25 year olds get ready for the world-class event.
"There is a lot of excitement at the airfield among the pilots and crews,'' Mr Styles said.
"Many of them have never been to Australia or been so far from home, they have been practising this week trying to get a feel for the Australian conditions and to acclimatise to the heat so there are plenty of new experiences for them to have.''
Cr McAnally said there had been great reports from the people already in town.
"These people have already been here for 10 or so days, I have heard lovely comments, they're lovely people," he said.
"So walk around with a smile on your face and if you get the opportunity to show someone around or have a beer with someone take them up on it. We'd love to se a revisit from these people."
Mr Styles and Cr McAnally would like to see everyone at the opening ceremony on Monday.
"The main event for everybody is the opening ceremony. Here people can see the teams and hear about the event," he said.
Cr McAnally agrees and encourages the community to go out to the aerodrome to see what's going on.
"Get to the oval on Monday at 6pm for the opening ceremony," he said.
"Everyone get out there and have a look."
