Nyngan Highway Patrol found the brown border collie near the showground early on Wednesday morning. They weren't sure where he came from.
Mr Drew reported his dog missing to council in May this year and had given up hope of finding his best mate.
He believes BJ was stolen out of his front yard where he used to roam.
Mr Drew was delighted when he got the call from the Bogan Shire Ranger on Wednesday morning.
"I wasn't expecting the call, he's been missing since May," he said.
"I never thought I'd see him again."

Mr Drew said he'd been missing the dog terribly, as it's just the two of them at his Narromine residence.
Mayor, Bill McAnally was delighted to hear the news and says it's a timely reminder for people to get their pets micro-chipped.
"I think it's essential to get all pets micro-chipped, well loved dogs can be tracked down if they go missing," he said.
Mr Drew agrees.
"You should get dogs micro-chipped. Look at me, I wouldn't have got him back," he said.
A delighted BJ and Mr Drew headed back to Narromine on Wednesday afternoon.
