What an achievement for "Butch" who was delighted and very proud. He actually shot a par round for 27 points and guess what, he still did not win the comp.
In the men's comp some 17 players participated on the front nine and the scores were pretty hot. The winner was Tiger Berryman on 29 points.
Second place went to Charlie Burrowes with 27 points from the Ace Man also on 27.
Burrowes also won the nearest the pin.The ladies also had a top field of 14 players on the back nine.
Here the winner was Fran Crawford with 24 points.
Congratulations Fran and welcome back to Gerries' golf.
Runner-up in the ladies was the consistent Bev Woods.
No lady was able to win the NTP.
In the pool comp only one match was played. Bill Burke and Rusty McKenzie took on Terry Willis and Mal Richardson and really gave them a thrashing.
Not to be outdone, Willis and Richo called for the old "best of three".
As usually happens the winners fell into the trap with Willis and Richardson winning the next two matches to take the title for the day.
There was a suggestion of best of seven but this was defeated.
Next Saturday the Gerries' comp will be held as usual with the hit-off at 9am.
The ladies will play the front and the men on the back. See you all on the tee.
