Bright sunlight, plenty of mirage and sudden wind gusts greeted 11 rifle shooters at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday when shooting was from 800 yards.

While some shooters suffered at the hands of the breeze, others took advantage of the occasional calm periods to rack up a good score.
In A-grade, Norm Brown was on target early in the day to fire a 49/50 first stage, while in F-class, Daniel Galea hit a 59/60 to hold the lead.
Brown went one better in his second run and fired a 50/50 "possible" to win the A-grade Cock O'the Walk badge with an off-rifle total of 99/100.
Rob Rainbow fired a pair of 57s to win F-class by one point from Daniel Galea and Renier Griffin was shooting well in C-grade to win the badge.
The weekly handicap trophy went to Norm Brown who was one of five shooters to break handicap.
The "pin-hole" went to new member Anthony Cahill who hit it in his second stage.
