Under the 'Working for the Dole' program, about half a dozen people are gardening, painting, weeding and laying road base to give Community Skills a much-needed outdoor facelift.
Co-ordinated by Nguumanbiny Indigenous Corporation CEO, Lynn Field, the "Working for the Dole" program has been a great success thus far.
"They come Monday and Friday mornings, it's about being punctual, time management, respect and learning to communicate," she said.
"There is a plethora of skill amongst this lot."
Ms Field was inspired by the success of the Dubbo program.
"In the Dubbo program we've had two people recruited," she said.
"Working for the Dole" recruit, Karen, said it's been fantastic.
"We've done the walkways, cleaned up, done the roses," she said.
"I'm looking forward to building outdoor furniture. I'd love to learn how to use a power saw, it's great seeing all the progress."
Every day is a new start for the workers.
"We've been here six months and we're having a ball,"
- Lynn Field.
"We know what we're working on and we're not getting under each other's skins, well not yet anyway," Karen joked.
Ms Field said it was great to see the community of Narromine benefit.
"We've been here six months and we're having a ball," she said.
"One of the other supervisors, Jason, is paying off his work development order, everyone here is winning."
While in the 'Working for the Dole' program, workers can learn about the safety of themselves, the safety of others and the environment.
Worker Josh said he's enjoyed the work the program entailed.
"We're a bunch of misfits working together," he said.
Lynn Field and the Nguumanbiny Indigenous Corporation CEO are holding a free drug and alcohol program this Monday at the Dubbo RSL at 6pm and a free mental health forum at the Local Aboriginal Lands Council in Warren from 10am to 2pm this Friday, December 4.
