Last Wednesday a field of 15 golfers followed the pleasant weather conditions for a round of golf on the Narromine course which was in great condition allowing for the recent oiling of the sand greens.

Winner on the day was John Butcher who returned a card of 22 stableford points for the front nine. He claimed victory on a count back from Norm Lewis also on 22 points. No doubt the handicapper will attend to the handicaps of these two players. Bill Bourke won the day's NTP to collect only one golf ball.
Attention then shifted to the pool table where only a small field contested the weekly event. The preliminary match was played between Gus Smith and Norm Lewis who defeated Terry Willis and Bill Burke to advance to the final. It is rumoured that it was the first time Gus has advanced past the first round.
It really did not matter that much as they ran up against the top pairing of Rusty McKenzie and Mal Richardson in the final, and copped a sound thrashing as Rusty and Mal returned to top form.
A reminder to veteran golfers theGilgandra Vets' Open is on Thursday April 28 and also the Narromine Vets' Open is to be contested on Thursday May 26.
Back to the Gerries - next Wednesday they play a single stableford on the back nine with the hit -ff at 2.30pm.
The captain has advised that the gerries will play a 4BBB on the front nine on Wednesday May 4.
