Mr Grant said the Environmental Trust grants were part of the NSW Government's Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
"I congratulate Narromine Council for securing this funding which will allow them to undertake works to improve the waste depot perimeter fence, install CCTV and erect signage," Mr Grant said.
Environment Minister Mark Speakman said the project was one of 26 awarded to 20 councils in the second round of the Landfill Consolidation and Environmental Improvements Program.
"The NSW Government is not only investing in a waste management system for the 21st century, but it is also looking to address the environmental legacy issues many rural and regional councilsface with long-standing landfill sites through the Waste Less, Recycle More initiative," Mr Grant said.
Up to $7 million has been made available over three years (2014-15 to 2016-17) under the Landfill Consolidation and Environmental Improvements Program to help councils support their communities. The program includes funding for business recycling, market development, managing problem wastes, new waste infrastructure, and programs to tackle illegal dumping and litter.
