Member for Dubbo Troy Grant visited Trangie airstrip on Monday to talk to Rebel Ag's Julie Black about the logistics of the funding.
The funding, announced last month, is to support activities that manage bushfire risk.
Inspector Bob Conran from the Rural Fire Service said the money would instal water tanks and fire-retardent tanks at the airport for aerial fire fighting.
Rebel Ag is a contractor for the RFS to assist in aerial fire fighting.
"It's a real scoop for the Trangie airport. It means we can have a quicker response time," Mrs Black said.
Mr Grant said he's very happy with the investment.
"There's an old saying in emergency management, failing to plan is planning to fail," he said.
"It puts the region on the front foot in relation to aerial fire fighting."
Narromine LGA was one of 33 grants in the $2.59 million funding boost.
"We have seen the widespread devastation bushfires can cause here in NSW and this program is a common sense approach to increased preparedness and responsiveness for threatened communities," Mr Grant said.
