The game belied that this season the Tigers are undefeated and the Kookaburras are running second last.
A good effort from the Kookaburras to bring such a competitive team to Trangie.
It was this enthused Kookaburra team that opened the scoring early in the first half with a try.
The Tigers responded with a penalty goal to Tigers inside centre Damien Taylor. The Kookaburras maintained possession for lengthy periods of time which had the Tigers defending grimly.
From this constant possession the Kookaburras scored their second try to take a handy 12 – 3 lead. The Tigers hit back when Tigers five-eighth Damian Tegart regathered his own grubber kick over the try line to score the Tigers first try, the try was converted to have the Tigers trailing by two points at half time.
The Tigers were the only team to score in the second half. The Tigers co-coaches, George Quigley and Brenton Montgomery each scored a try, both tries were converted by Damien Taylor.
This Saturday the Tigers travel to Geurie to take on the Geurie Goats in the last round before the final series. The Goats look certain to play in this year’s minor semi-final against the Molong Magpies. A great revival for the Goats who did not win a game in their previous three seasons.
