It will be illegal to fish for Murray Cod until December 1, 2016 and illegal to fish for Murray Crayfish until June 2017.
The Department of Primary Industries said the seasons are closed for periods each year to protect native species during breeding seasons.
Anglers are also reminded Trout Cod and Eastern Freshwater Cod are protected all year around.
