A group of rugby league identities, including Ricky Stuart, Laurie Daley and Darryl Brohman, were driven to despair by Suman The Yak’s form so opted to give away the five-year-old gelding to Narromine trainer Kylie Kennedy and her partner Ricky Blewitt.

Placed seven times but winless after 21 starts, Suman The Yak finally broke through when scoring a convincing win in the Kevin Hunt Builders Maiden Handicap (1400m) at Coonamble on Saturday.

I Am Sparta (Jamie Gibbons, $8) established a big lead but was run down and beaten by more than two lengths by Suman The Yak (Clayton Gallagher, $6.50) with My Christians (Tiffany Jeffries, $13), third.

Owned by Fiona Watts and trained at Dubbo by her partner Justin Stanley, Prattler scored career win number nine in the Colin Wrigley Memorial Benchmark 55 Handicap (1200m).

Prattler (Jean Van Overmeire, $3.20 favourite) set the pace and  pulled away to score by two lengths.
