The Group 11 clash has been moved to Caltex Park with the Westside’s regular home ground, No. 1 Oval, playing host to the Roos rugby side.
But a match under lights at Caltex Park between two sides searching for a first win of 2017 is certain to be a spectacle.
A healthy rivalry has developed between the two teams and last time the pair met was in the final round of the 2016 season when the wooden spoon was on the line.
Wellington has shown it has improved vastly since then and captain-coach Aidan Ryan will be harbouring dreams of pushing for a top five spot after only going down to Nyngan by four points last time out. For the Rabbitohs, continual improvement is the main focus.
After being destroyed 102-0 in round one by CYMS, Westside was better last weekend against Forbes but was still beaten by 36 points.
Captain-coach Colt Tairua has made more changes with Steve Riley moving from the halves to fullback while star centre CJ Ralph will start at hooker. Brayden Peachey and Dylan Coe form a new-look halves combination.
Saturday’s matches begin with the League Tag at 2pm.
Elsewhere, Nyngan has chance to potentially move into the competition’s top three when it travels to Narromine on Sunday.
After a round one loss, Stewart Mills’ Tigers bounced back with a tight, four-point win over the Wellington Cowboys last Sunday.
The Jets are winless and with the current top four all playing each other this weekend there is a big chance for the Tigers to get in the mix.
Barnstorming centre Jone Yacadrau scored a double for the Tigers last week and will be a huge threat again while the likes of Mills, Benny Cokanasgia and James Fisk are all becoming more settled since joining the club in the off-season. Narromine will again look to former Westside EJ Fernando to cause damage while halves Daryl Cubby and Corey Cox will run off the work done by Alex Sambrook and Ryan Richardson up front.
