Stride for stride over the final 450 metres, Tiger's Story ($5), ridden by Alan Barton and carrying a 7.5kg handicap advantage, eventually edged out the Gayna Williams trained Shadow Affair (Kath Bell-Pitomac, $1.70) by a short neck while more than six lengths behind in third was Samikosho ($4.20).
The Bathurst-based Tiger’s Story has now scored five wins from 45 starts with Friday’s victory being his first since back-to-back wins midway through 2015.
Barton finished with a double in the saddle after earlier riding Whispadah ($2.90) to victory for Narromine-based trainer Wayne Collison in the Mudgee Machinery Class 2 Handicap (900m).
