The Narromine community has strong feelings about reducing car speed on Dandaloo Street.
When The Narromine News and Trangie Advocate asked Facebook followers how they’d feel about speed humps on the main street many people had strong reactions.
Numerous followers suggested flashing lights at the pedestrian crossing as many have seen “almost accidents” take place there.
“Not speed humps, but definitely flashing lights at the pedestrian crossing," Facebook user Jo Moulder said.
“Unfortunately its safer to jaywalk than use the pedestrian crossing. The gardens are beautiful but severely limit viability.”
Facebook user Thomas G Daley said a roundabout on the main street may make a difference, with Cindy Scholz saying the Cenotaph in its original position would have made a perfect round about location in her opinion.
Phil Steer suggested on Facebook something to make people stop at the pedestrian crossing.
“I’m saying the crossing is the problem, I don’t see people speeding through the crossing but I agree, they just don’t stop, I still reckon its in the wrong spot or needs to be adjusted somehow,” he said.
Facebook user Simon Friend suggested rerouting the trucks.
“How about we stop heavy vehicles from using the main street and get them on the by pass. Slowing cars and trucks from speeding when coming into residential areas is more of an issue,” he said.
