In an emotional meeting on Wednesday night, Narromine councillors and council staff paid tribute to Peter Drew who suddenly passed away on Tuesday evening.

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Pastor David Taylor who paid homepage to Cr Drew.

See these tributes in the video below, story continues after post.

Each of the councillors then were given the opportunity to say something about Cr Drew.

“Although I haven’t know Peter long, I know we shared a passion for the community, it shone through everything he did,” Cr James Craft said.

Cr Rob McCutcheon said he hoped Cr Drew’s family knew that the councillors and staff were there to support them through the tragic times.

"Cr Drew completed a team of passionate councillors, I had a growing respect for his knowledge and sense of community, we were blessed to have him representing the Shire,” Cr Lyn Jablonski said.

His passion was also recognised by Cr Les Lambert.

“His passion for his work always shone through, at a four day conference last year we grew on each other and became sounding boards for one another,” he said.

“Let’s hope his family knows we’re here.”

Cr Mark Munro extended his sympathies to Cr Drew’s family.

“We lost a very good man way too early, I’m really going to miss him on council and in the community,” he said.

Councillors Dawn Collins and Colin Hamilton echoed these sentiments and extended sympathies to the Drews.

“We’ll miss his knowledge and wisdom from ‘the inside’,” Cr Hamilton said.
