The Tigers kept their semi-final hopes alive with a tough 22-15 victory over the Redbacks last Saturday in Wellington. The Tigers dominated the first half with the big forwards making good ground when in possession.  The backs continually challenged the Wellington defence.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a converted try to number 8 John Ellis, then extended by a penalty goal to Chris O’Shea. Winger George Key scored a try just before half time to have, what appeared, a comfortable 15-0 lead at half time.

In the second half the home team came out full of determination and scored two tries to have them trailing 15-12. With the game very much in the balance both teams upped the tempo.

It was only close to full time the Tigers put the result beyond doubt when George Quigley forced his way over for the Tigers second win against Wellington this year.
