Narromine Public School student leaders are set to take on the future after taking part in the ‘illuminate : nextgen’ challenge. Fifteen Year 6 school leaders have spent a week in Dubbo, learning and collaborating with middle school students from various schools in Dubbo.

Stage Leader and Leadership Coordinator Gurmit Thakur said the program, which was designed to teach the basics of business and entrepreneurship, was a great success.
“This student driven project saw participants developing business ideas to address real world challenges.While the students learnt what it takes to start up a business, more importantly, they also learnt about communication, collaboration, working under pressure and problem solving,” she said.
Groups were created by mixing students from Years 6 to 8 from different schools based on a shared solution to given social issues such as supporting farmers, fighting against animal cruelty and youth unemployment. Students developed a range of business solutions that had to be viable and support their cause.
