Sleeping late may be the best option on Sunday when the temperature in Narromine is expected to drop to minus 2 degrees Celsius.

Colder-than-normal mornings have settled into the region in the first half of July 2017.

The long-term average minimum temperature for July at Trangie is 3.2 degrees based on Bureau of Meteorology data collected since 1922.

But in the first 13 days of this month the average morning temperature has been just 1.3 degrees.

The coldest morning was last Sunday when minus 2 degrees was recorded at Trangie Research Station.

Nearby at Dubbo, a six-day run of below-zero temperatures began on July 6.

But chilly mornings have been followed mostly by above-average daytime temperatures.

The long-term average maximum temperature for July is 15.4 degrees.

To July 13 the average daytime temperature for the month was 17.7 degrees.

The seven-day forecast reveals minimum temperatures at Narromine will range from minus 2 to 6 degrees and maximum temperatures from 14 to 20 degrees between Saturday, July 15, and Thursday, July 20.
