A number of very good news stories coming up. The opening of the cultural centre was amazing and a real credit to Terri Milgate and the band of helpers who have dedicated six years to this exciting project.

The highlight for me was always going to be the indigenous dancers who put on a masterly display with their talent and authenticity.
The display inside the centre is also excellent and is certainly worth the trip out to Trangie.
The artefacts are as good as can be found anywhere and will no doubt be a focal point in Trangie into the future.
Coming on top of this has been a grant to the Trangie Community Connection for the establishment of a Respite Centre for People with Disabilities.
The Community connection and the Lands council with their cultural centre have been toiling away at this for a number of years and to finally receive this grant is fantastic.
It goes without saying that without the generous support of many local organisations this would have been a bridge too far.
Of all these organisations, the Picnic Race Club has been amazing with its support and for the support it gives to many worthy local causes.
Assuming all goes to plan the centre could potentially be operational by Xmas and is designed to be available to all communities across the western part of the state and I would encourage those who may benefit from the Centre to contact myself or those involved for further information
The General Manager's Performance Review Committee met recently as legislated and to suggest that we are delighted by her performance would be a complete understatement.
Jane has been a breath of fresh air and the feeling within both the council and the community generally is that we have a real leader and someone dedicated to taking our Shire forward.
Her local knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect us is at the core of her ability to bring out the best in staff and councillors alike. I hope she is in the role for many years to come.
A reminder to all residents that a bi-election is to be held this coming Saturday and is compulsory for all voters. Two ladies have put up their hands to contend for the one position available.
Ruth Carney is renominating after serving for four years in the previous council whilst Trudy Everingham brings her experience in Disabilty , Mental Health and Education in her bid to become the newest councillor.
Please ensure you let neighbours know about the bi- election to avoid the fine and please vote for the person you believe is best qualified to take the shire forward and continue on the work of this current council.
Hope you all have a great week and can avoid the dreaded flu
Craig Davies. Mayor Narromine Shire
