Narromine is no different. Last week The Narromine News asked council if this is something it considered and it said it hasn’t considered artwork around town and would definitely give it some consideration.
It seems most followers of The Narromine News Facebook page feel the same way, with many agreeing silo art would be a great addition to the shire.
Debbie Smith suggested bringing some local feeling to the artwork.
“With grain, orange trees and cotton along with the farmers,” she suggested.
Patty Mitchell said Trangie would be a fantastic place to have the artwork: “Don’t forget about Trangie it would be fantastic and we would share it with Narromine and Tomingley.”
Marilyn Wallace agreed.
“Why not give silos a new lease of life but appropriate to the town! Plus it adds a bit of color to the work sites,” Melissa Speer said.
Lynette Barry said it would be amazing for “our little town to do something special.”
Ray Evans suggested water towers and wheat storage as well.
Local artist Susie Rae gave it her thumbs up.
“It would brighten up a town that is looking run down. Toowoomba has some fantastic street art which has changed the look of the city for the better,” Michael Barling said.
“I think it’s a great idea, what would they paint? I have other pictures in frames from other silos and they look great,” Bianca Roots said.
Maria Green pointed out it would be a good area to paint as it’s one of the first things you see as you drive into town.
“Please, as the silos can be seen when you drive into town,” she said.
Not one comment on the Narromine News Facebook page opposed the idea.
A lot of support was given to Trangie as the silos can be seen from the western side of town.
Wellington’s Rotary Club have taken on the project for the club and are currently determining a design to place on the local silos.
