The works were completed recently with the laying of asphalt, bitumen, erection of signage and line-marking with the first vehicles using it as soon as the signage and safety fencing was removed on the 1st September, 2017.
The roundabout works were 100 per cent funded from the Federal Government Black Spot Program which “Targets those road locations where crashes are occurring”.
There have been three eligible crashes at this intersection since 2009, which is what highlighted the need for some safety improvements at this location.
“Community safety is always a priority of Council so the recognition of funding for this black spot by the state government is extremely positive,” Acting Mayor, Cr Dawn Collins said.
