The inaugural Narromine High Colour Run has raised about $1500 for the school, with organisers now hoping it will become an annual event.

The event was pitched by the school’s Student Representative Council (SRC), and saw well over 120 people walk and run five kilometres while being showered with non-toxic cornstarch dye around Rotary Park.
Teacher and SRC coordinator Simone Googe said the SRC and Parents and Citizens’ Association (P and C) would split the funds, to be invested back into the school.
“We’ve had really positive feedback from the community. Everybody that came had a really good time,” Ms Googe said, adding that she was proud of the students for pulling off the event.
“It was their [the students’] idea; at the end of last year they pitched it and we’ve been working on it all year.
“This is what I’m in teaching for, to be part of a community and to help kids better their communities.”
It’s hoped the hype around Sunday’s event will help it grow in coming years.
Ms Googe said the SRC had a lot of ideas about how to spend the money, including possibly buying DJ equipment to use at school social events.
