Timbrebongie House has started the process of developing the retirement village and are looking for people who may be retiring in the next five to 10 years.

The Timberbongie House Board have started drawing up plans and looking into preparation for the village.

“There are a lot of drawings and preparation, we need to finish those off then we can move into the development stage,” Timbrebongie House Chairman Trevor Roberts.

“We’re looking for community feedback and interest.” 

The village will come under the successful umbrella of Timbrebongie House. 

“Timbrebongie House began as a residential aged care centre, now it is a low care centre with ageing in place,” Mr Roberts said. 

The team are hoping to get 30 houses in the village for the first stage, from that point there is room to do stages two and three. 

“We’re going to put in a community centre and barbecue, places where people can socialise,” Mr Roberts said.

There is also talk about making the community particularly safe.

“We’re hoping it’s going to be a gated community,” Timbrebongie Hosue deputy chair Graham Milgate said.

Mr Roberts and Milgate said there is room to develop the village as people show interest. 

The board are looking for people interested in buying into the village.

There are three or four designs for the village with varying numbers of bedrooms and garage spaces. 

Mr Milgate said it is an enticing venture. 

“It’s something i’m looking forward to for my retirement,” he smiled.

Timbrebongie House Chief Executive Officer Robyn Abbott thinks it’s a great option for Baby Boomers in the shire and around the region.

“Community members can use this as a base and go travel, or people can move here if they want a quieter lifestyle than Dubbo or an easier lifestyle than out west,” she said. 

Mr Roberts agreed.

“It a big service area,” he said.

As far as timelines go, the Board are hoping to be "well along the track” by this time next year.
