Trangie’s Cassie Lewis is set to learn from one of the world’s best hair stylists after she won a competition through Adelaide-based foils supplier Foil Me.

Cassie, who operates Sassy Styles Hairdressing Boutique on Dandaloo Street, held a fundraiser in October for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, raising $314 for the organisation.
Her efforts put her in the running to win a one-on-one training day with Sheree Knobel – famous for colouring Jennifer Hawkins’ hair – as well as 12 boxes of pink Foil Me foils.
But Cassie said when she first signed on to take part in the fundraiser, she had no idea there was a prize up for grabs.
Her inspiration came instead from a close friend, Jo Zupin, who lives in Sydney and has been battling breast cancer for 12 months.

“My great friend who is fighting breast cancer inspires me to do anything I can to help everyone in her shoes to win their battle,” Cassie said.
The Foil Me Pink Day fundraising initiative involved a about 80 salons and raised a total of almost $10,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Cassie offered pink foils throughout her ‘pink week’, and contributed $10 from each colour to the fundraiser.
Clients generously contributed $214 to bring up the $314 total.
Sassy Styles Hairdressing Boutique was then added to a hat containing all 80 salons, with the winner drawn on Sunday.
Cassie only learned she had won when she watched a video on Foil Me’s Instagram on Sunday night.
“I screamed and the kids woke up and it was like ‘mummy won!’” she said, adding she couldn’t wait to learn from Sheree Knobel.
“I thought ‘my little Trangie salon is probably not going to make it, there’s 80 salons in that hat!’,” she said.
“It’s just incredible really, to be able to work alongside someone who has done Jennifer Hawkins hair, and Jennifer Lopez’s hair.
“To follow in her footsteps for a day of training is amazing.
“It would be something that not only I would benefit from, but also my clients would benefit from.”
Cassie said her clients were pretty excited about the win as well.
She said she hoped to make the ‘pink week’ an annual affair.
“Absolutely. I do do quite a few things like that in the salon … so the breast cancer one will be something I think I’ll do every year, even if there’s not a prize,” Cassie said.
“Thank you to everyone that donated and helped raise the funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.”
