Staff at Narromine Shire Council have raised $1400 for the Narromine Cancer Support Group through their ‘casual Fridays’ initiative.
Every Friday, office staff pay for the privilege of wearing casual clothes to the office. A payroll deduction comes out of staff pay each fortnight, with the total amount donated to a local charity (voted on by staff) at the end of the year. This year, staff chose the Narromine Cancer Support Group, with general manager Jane Redden presenting $1400 to the support group’s president Judy Barlow last week.
“We are very appreciative of the generous donation which will go a long way towards helping people in the Narromine Shire who had received a cancer diagnosis and had to leave home to travel for treatment, whether it be to Dubbo or further afield,” Ms Barlow said.
