Close to $2000 was raised, with Margaret Meddle donating a Lowline bull (which went for $300), and many bowlers donated cakes to be auctioned off. Flyers in the Pink Pigeon Race went for an average of $200.
“We’ve got two breast cancer nurses in the Central West and we want another one,” Shane Dalton. “The only way we’re going to do it is by raising more money.”
This year’s fundraising efforts started earlier this month with $3000 raised at Narromine’s Pink Golf Day, followed by the Pink Sheep Auction at the Dubbo Saleyards, which raised upwards of $5500. Mr Dalton wanted to thank Roger Fletcher and everybody who has purchased a sheep or pigeon.
“I’d like to thank everybody, and get their backside track side, to Dundas Park on January 6 to watch the pigeons being released,” he said.
The event will kick off at 7.30am with breakfast, Johnny Clarke’s farm animals and a jumping castle. The pigeons will be released about 9am.
