The Narromine Cup saw great riding from Apprentice Chelsea Ings aboard A Magic Zariz, trained by Cecil Hodgson from Coonamble.
Two horses charged out of the barriers and were leading the field by over 14 lengths at the 400 metres mark.
They were swamped at the finished. Very impressive riding by young Hawkeberry Jockey, Chelsea.
The winning owners, Mr and Mrs Wally Prout who have been in the racing game for a long time, are no strangers to winning races at Narromine and were well known to the committee and crowd.
The Gold Cup was extra special as they bred A Magic Zariz and its mother. They enjoyed the day at the racing and were celebrating their 57th Wedding Anniversary.
Also sired by Zariz and trained by Cecil Hodgson, Pedros Zaris won the annual Jack Walsh Memorial Cup, this time ridden by Greg Ryan, who took home the Winning Jockey Trophy from the Walsh Family The family were all in attendance, and Bob Walsh spoke in a moving tribute to his father and presentation of the trophies.
The family of Douglas Egan, past president of The Club came together to celebrate the annual Douglas Egan Memorial Country Plate and it was won by Something Shocked, Trained Tracey Bartley. A special Winning Jockey Trophy was handed out to Matthew Cahill from The Egan Family.
