Once again, the Narromine Hospital Auxiliary has been successful in obtaining a grant from Family and Community Services to hold this important event in our yearly calendar.
Officially, Grandparents Day falls on Sunday October 29 but, because of many other events happening in the town, the Auxiliary is holding it on Sunday October 15 in the Narromine Hospital grounds between 10am and 3pm.
This year the Auxiliary has teamed with Narromine Community Health who will be showcasing their valued health services with information booths on how readily accessible these services are.
Once again, our Deputy Mayor, Dawn Collins, will officiate as Emcee for the day.
Like last year, there will be free travel provided to and from the event for any grandparents who need to be picked up.
They just need to ring 0427891540 to avail themselves of this service. Once they are there, all grandparents will be able to enjoy tea and coffee and delicious delicacies for just a gold coin donation and there will be a prize awarded to the oldest person attending on the day.
Although the name of the event, THE GRANDEST DAY, has not changed, there are some changes to the agenda this year, not least among them professional entertainment by Cody Neve, a Little (&) Big Shots Talent Quest with wonderful prizes for first, second and third places.
Also this year there will be free admission to the baby animal farm and the Jumping Castle, free entry in all the novelty races and free balloons for every child.
All the other fun activities will cost no more than $2 with some very good prizes for winners of the competitions and activities, so it will be a very economical day for all the family to enjoy, for children, parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents.
After the outstanding success of last year's event, the Auxiliary is hoping for a bigger and better day this year with all proceeds from the day going to our local hospital for items it needs to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of the patients.
Money raised last year went towards the purchase of an ACUVEIN, a vein finding apparatus which cost in excess of $8,000 and the Auxiliary is hoping to raise even more this year.
So make sure you don't miss The Grandest Day. This Sunday, at the Hospital.
