The Future Transport 2056 draft regional strategy outlines improvements to the network over the coming decades. Better regional inter-connectivity, enhanced east-west links and easier access to ports will be an important focus while also making significant improvements to safety, reliability and efficiency of our roads and highways. Future Transport 2056 is a comprehensive strategy to ensure the way we travel is more personal, integrated, accessible, reliable and sustainable.

The draft strategy will be open for comment until December 3. The strategy will be on display and the team will on hand to answer your questions at the Macquarie Street Rotunda November 3.

The NSW Liberals & National are encouraging crown land managers, tenure holders, trust, councils and the wider community to have their say on the draft community engagement strategy for crown land. This strategy is central to improving transparency and meaningful engagement with the community on crown land decisions and mandates that engagement must occur where deals and activities have potential to impact on community use and enjoyment of crown land. The Community Engagement Strategy is on public exhibition until November 26 2017. The NSW Parliament recently passed legislation to amend the Fair Trading Act 1987, these amendments will crack down on price gouging in the sport and live entertainment industries. All too often you hear stories of tickets to sporting and other events being resold online a hugely inflated prices, the governments changes will help prevent this.

The other positive change is in relation to gift cards. There is now a mandatory minimum 3 years expiry date for gift cards sold to consumers in NSW, this change alone will put millions back in the hands of shoppers that’s currently lost to retailers through unused balances on expired gift cards. 

A new independent Visitor Economy Taskforce will undertake a review of the NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan. The review is an opportunity to re-engage with industry, local government, organisations, associations and other relevant stakeholders throughout the electorate.

This review is incredibly exciting and I encourage industry, local government and others to take the opportunity to contribute to this blue-sky approach that will work out the next frontier of tourism policy in NSW.
