Preparations are gearing up for Narromine Christian School’s Road to Bethlehem on Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15.

It’s the second year the school has held the production, which is an immersive, interactive telling of the Christmas story.

Community members are accompanied by a ‘tour guide’ back in time to the year 4 B.C., where they walk from scene to scene witnessing the the Christmas story unfold.

The experience features about 120 actors – students, teachers and other members of the local Christian community – who bring the world to life.

Last year was the first time Narromine has hosted an event, with 600 people flocking through the gates.

This year’s Jerusalem market place will feature middle eastern-style food available for purchase – bartering is allowed – and visitors can expect to be accosted by Roman soldiers.

Narromine Christian School chaplain Jimmy Watanabe said children and community members of all ages loved being involved in the annual production.

“It’s a creative way to tell the Christmas story,” he said.

“We get so caught up with presents, food and family, we forget about the real story.

“It’s an interactive way to tell people the story, in a very different way, that anyone can enjoy.

“The kids just love it. We’ve got little ones, big ones from young to old.”

Road to Bethlehem will be held at Narromine Christian School on Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15.

Sessions start at 6pm and will be held every 30 minutes, with six sessions each night.

Bookings are essential with a limit of 45 people in each tour group.
