The money from the state government’s Community Building Partnerships program will allow the club to finally add a clubhouse – with bathrooms and a kitchen – to their site at the back of the Narromine Showground.
The club currently only has a storage shed and a shade cloth.
“We can host events and hold more activities for our members,” pony club member Sally Packham said.
Ms Packham said the clubhouse had been a long time coming for the club’s chief instructor Alice Oates.
“Alice … has been associated with pony club for 45 years,” Ms Packham said.
“She still comes over every Sunday and she just loves the kids.”
The youngsters were also cheering about the prospect of not having “to stand out in the sun all day”.
Dubbo MP Troy Grant presented the funds in scorching conditions on Tuesday but, despite the heat, said giving money to community groups was “the best part of the job”.
“The Community Building Partnerships funding focuses on partnership funding for broader community amenity and good,” Mr Grant said.
“The facility here is impacting on their ability to grow, so this is a great opportunity to leverage that funding.
“It helps dreams come true.”
