Ryan missed out in the first three races of the day, two of those when he was aboard favourites, but he saluted in three of the day’s final four races.
The champion hoop’s first win came with $13 outsider Forseeable in the Zoo FM/2DU Maiden Handicap (1300m).
After sitting midfield much of the way, Ryan and the Dennis Bush-trained gelding peeled wide at the top of the straight and then powered home, flying over the final 100m, to win by a neck L’Appel Du Vide ($3.30 favourite) and Recital ($9.50).
Ryan followed that up with a commanding win on the Gayna Williams-trained George Two in the Dubbo Equine Hospital Maiden Plate (1100m).
The four-year-old also sat deep in the field but as soon as Ryan worked into some space down the straight he appeared the main danger for leaders and joint $4.80 favourites Zaphod (Jake Pracey-Holmes), trained at the track by Kylie Kennedy, and Where Eagles Dare (Ken Dunbar).
The day came to a close with a Ryan hat-trick, the Dubbo-based jockey guiding Miss Fisher ($2.50 favourite) to a comfortable one-and-three-quarter-length win in the Pet Medical Centre Dubbo Class 2 Handicap (1100m).
Miss Fisher, trained at Muswellbrook by Jan Bowen, led the field into the straight and Ryan was able to get home while the fast-finishing Bryan’s Babe (Mathew Cahill, $6.50) was second and Loves A Hassle (Courtney Van Der Werf, $8) was third.
Earlier in the day, Garry Lunn’s Nightspun made it four wins from five starts.
Nightspun ($3.90), which raced at Orange just last Tuesday, sat second behind the Michael Plummer-trained Bathurstian ($51) heading into the bend for home and from there apprentice jockey Alena Skerritt was able to move forward and claim a comfortable win in the Patrick Donoghue Benckmark 62 Handicap, Narromine’s first 2400m race.
Other winners were Brett Thompson’s Attalea (Pracey-Holmes, $6.50), the Mark Jones-trained Nordic Noir (apprentice jockey Chris Williams, $7.50) and Brett Cavanough’s Eradicator (apprentice jockey Adam Spinks, $4.20).
