Narromine Christian School is expanding, welcoming a new classroom, and a new year Two/Three teacher.
School Principal Debbie Robinson said with more students enrolled this year and the opening of a new classrooom they have taken Anthony Smith on board as their new teacher, who she said is "already proving to be an awesome asset to our school."
While Mr Smith has been living in Narromine with his wife who grew up in the area for the past two and a half years, he has been teaching in Dubbo. Mr Smith is already half way into the term and said, “I’m really enjoying my time so far".
"[I] was always trying to keep my eye out for jobs around here and it was just by chance, word going around the community that this school was growing and they may have another class opening up," Mr Smith said.
"An email to Mrs Robinson here and a week later I had this amazing news I had a job here … It's a pretty good place to work," said Mr Smith.
I'm really enjoying my time so far.
- Anthony Smith
Mr Smith has a full classroom of 25 students, teaching year Two/Three at the Christian School.
"They're all just really nice students. I can ask them to do something and straight away they're on task," Mr Smith said.
Now working in Narromine, this year Mr Smith is eager to get involved within the community.
"Becuase I've been working in a school in Dubbo I haven't been able to get out amongst the community so thats my goal this year."
"Get to know the kids, the families and be more present in the community, so that might be more volunteering for different things.”
“I'm really looking forward to that because I kind of am a bit jealous of my wife when she's walking around the town and she knows lots of people."
Mrs Robinson said the Narromine Christian school are continuing to grow with plans to extend further.
"We have plans underway for another new classroom and a library to hopefully start being built later this year, so that's really exciting."
