The participation rate of the 2018 Burrendong Easter Fishing Classic increased by 15 per cent in what was a record year for the event, according to Inland Waterways president Matt Hansen.

A total of 1561 fishermen, women and children entered this year’s competition which drew in a crowd of between 3000 and 4000 people to Lake Burrendong.
They came in droves from as far as Far North Queensland to get a taste of the competition which has earned a reputable name across the country.
Feedback indicates it was a tough few days on the water with some participants lucky to catch a snag.
Shrimp appeared to be the bait of choice with Richard Gear of Oberon hooking first place in the Senior Yellow Belly section to take home the Ross Eagen Memorial Trophy.
Michael Fisher was the winner of the Senior Cod category, with no juniors entered.
Jordan Wilson won the Junior Yellow Belly, Warren Johnson the Senior Catfish, and Rohan Miller first for the juniors.
Jane Beatley was winner of the Senior Silver, with no juniors reported.
