Last Wednesday a good field of 14 starters lined up for the weekly Gerries Golf Comp which was played on the back nine of "Royal Narromine".
Winner on the day was Mal Richardson who returned a very good score of 24 points.Runner up was John Butcher with 23 points and he took second place on a count back from Bruce Mitchell also on 23 points.
The NTP went to Bruce Mitchell but unfortunately the prize was only one golf ball as the jackpot was won last week.Mith was lucky being defeated on the count back as he does not loose any shots.
The consistent Bob Culhane won the NAGA prize for the day.
Due to the "Postman " being on duty Gus Smith acted as organizer for the day and despite some criticism he maintained his dignity and did a great job.Only two weeks to go Gus.
On to the pool competition where Greg Kearines and Gus smith won the preliminary match against Bill Bourke and Mal Richardson to advance to the final. The second match went to Terry Willis and Norm Lewis who defeated Chris Harding and Ross King.
In the final Willis and Lewis were in real trouble until Kearines missed a shot on the black and Willis being the player he is cleaned up the table for a convincing win.
It caused some conjecture as some wished to bar all players from the pool unless they played in the golf but this was easily defeated by the executive.Willis and Lewis were declared champs for the week and deservedly so.
This afternoon the comp is on the front nine with hit of at the same time 3pm.See you all in the Clubhouse.

Narromine Bowling Club
Our two pennant teams returned from the Easter Break, and although Keen and raring to go the lack of roll ups and or Practice for a number of our players certainly were reflected in the quality of the bowls they played over the weekend.
Our Grade 3 team travelled to Baradine and although they were in an almost unbeatable position on the ladder the locals certainly made it very difficult for them.
To say we got away with one would be understating the obvious and I hope this squad realises that the final against Bathurst City at Mudgee on Saturday, May 4 will not be an easy walk in the park if we don’t improve on our preparation for this match.
That Means instead of coming over to the club after work for a beer and sitting at the bar, take the beer and your bowls out for a few ends, after all the green isn’t that far from the bar:
Our Grade 5 team got ambushed by Parkes Railway on Sunday and again it wasn’t hard to see amongst our squad who had been rolling up over Easter and who thought the two trial ends before the game would be enough to click into gear.
Well it didn’t happen did it boys and thanks to a lucky result in the Other match, Narromine are still in the race, but only if they can win this Sunday at Parkes and hope the result of the other match is interesting.
So again, this squad needs to make sure their preparation is right for Sunday, including getting over to Parkes early and Rolling up for a few ends.
Whilst it might seem that Ricky is “carping” on, the best Players in the World practice every day, we are suggesting you only need to have one or two sessions a week, after all it is Pennant season isn’t?, and if you don’t practice during this time of year why are you playing?
So the squads for this week are, Grade 3 Codey Anning, Adam Jermyn, Aaron Clark, Aaron Hutchison, Trent Jacobson, Mark Hilder, Alex Sambrook, Robbie Stanford, Glen Miller, Robert French, Sam Crook, Ben Clark. Your match against Nyngan kicks off at 11am Saturday.
Grade 5 Squad is Arnold Gillespie, Bruce Maher, Don Sullivan, Terry McDonald, Danny Carnevale, Steve Buttsworth, Peter Payne, James Daley, Ross Edden, Peter Cross, Steve Riley, Kevin Rider. All Players are requested to be at Clubhouse before 7.45am to allow time to practice on Parkes Greens before 9.30am.
Social Bowls this week saw 15 players go round on Thursday with Steve Buttsworth and Don Sullivan declared the days winners after an enterprising 29/15 win over Cliff Harris and David McNair. Runners up cheque went to Des Lincoln, Bob Ashdown and Eddie McPhee, whilst the jackpot was unsighted.
Sunday morning saw 11 boys and girls take to the green for the chook run with Peter Jones, Peter Kelly and Kevin Heatrick getting all the chocolates.
Just a reminder that Thursday Social Bowls has reverted to its Normal Winter Time slots, which means that Names are to be in before 1.30pm for a 2pm Start:
CHAMPIONSHIPS: We still are trying to finalise the consistency singles, and hopefully there is a break in the busy schedule shortly that should see this event wrapped up before the end of the Month:
Nominations for the A pairs close shortly, with Round 1 and Mirrored Round 2 Byes set down for play on Saturday, April 29. So get your team in.
