For a few, watching the wedding was a waste of time. Fair enough, it is a free country! But for those who did witness the event, it was a reminder that some old traditions will never go out of style. For sure, some commentators have said how we now have a new generation of royals who are adapting with the times, but at the same time, noticing the protocol and the ceremony, one is reminded of traditions going back years.

Much has also been said of the talk given. Very American, some have said. Full of emotion and a breath of fresh air to the (hopefully not too many) stiff and stuffy sermons one might have heard in the past. Much was said of love (58 times apparently), God, and the power of love.

It must be said though that there is value in defining some of these words. Take love for example. One may love pizza, or apples, or ice cream, pets, country, friends, family, our husband or wife. It is worth mentioning that some of these things are worth dying for and some aren’t! The word “love” means different things to different people. God can also mean different things to different people. For some, it could be a deity. For others it is many. There are those who believe it is a social construct, for others it is golf. It can also mean many different things!

For those who believe in the Bible, both words are quite clearly defined. There is only one God, and he has been revealed to us (John 10:30). And love is much more than just feelings. It involves commitment and submission (John 14:15, 21 & 23).
