Now in its 25th year, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of Cancer Council’s leading fundraising events and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia.
This is the first year Tots on Temoin have hosted a biggest morning tea, with the community bringing along a number of cakes and slices for Thursday’s event.
The preschoolers even helped out making pancakes for the morning tea.
Since Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea began in 1994, Cancer Council’s generous community supporters have raised more than $192 million by hosting morning teas.
Brianna Carracher, Communications and Events Coordinator at Cancer Council Western NSW office said every morning tea makes a difference.
“One Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every five minutes, the length of an average tea break. Today is all about making your cuppa count,” she said.
“Any locals unable to host a morning tea today can still get involved by hosting any time during May or June or attending any morning teas happening around the area.”
Ms Carracher said every amount raised, big or small, can go a long way.
“Fifteen dollars allows Cancer Council to provide easy-to-understand information on treatments, practical advice and emotional support to cancer patients and their families,” she said.
While May, 24 is the official date for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, registrations are still open to host for the remainder of the month and throughout June.
Those who want to host can register at biggestmorningtea.com.au or call 1300 65 65 85 to receive a free morning tea host kit.
Those unable to host a morning tea can still get involved by donating directly to Cancer Council via biggestmorningtea.com.au.
