A man has been arrested after a 16-year-old male was struck in the head with a hammer at Apex Park in Narromine.

The teenager was struck in the face with the wooden implement at 4pm Sunday afternoon after an argument broke out.
Police said the 23-year-old Queensland male was yelling at a number of children, which attracted the victim over.
It is believed the male then retrieved the hammer from his vehicle striking the victim in the face, where he suffered an injury below his left eye.
The victim was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment, and was later released.
During investigations police located the weapon and identified the vehicle discovering a person of interest.
At 1pm Wednesday the male offender handed himself over to Narromine police custody.
He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Dubbo local court this afternoon.
