In October Davis will be attempting to climb the Sydney Tower in his full structural firefighting gear, while wearing a breathing apparatus, adding an extra 20 kilograms onto his weight. 

The climb consists of of 1504 stairs, which is a vertical rise of 820 feet. 

Each dollar raised for the cause will go to Macquarie University, which has Australia’s largest MND research facility.

To help raise money for MND Narromine Fire and Rescue are hosting a trivia, auction and karaoke night this Saturday, September 8 at the Royal Hotel. 

Narromine Fire Station Commander Captain Ewen Jones is encouraging members of the community to come along to support the cause and said this year promises to be “pretty special”.

“This year we’ve got one very special person coming, Darren Yeo from Condobolin, who suffers from MND,” Captain Jones said.

“It’s going to be a good opportunity for people to hear his story, and experience.”

“It’s people like him we want to help,” he said. 

The fundraiser kicks off with trivia at 7pm, followed by an auction of donated goods and a bit of fun on the karaoke machine to finish off the night. 

Captain Jones said in the current climate, Davis has set a goal of $2000 to go toward the grand total. 

Last year team 401 Narromine raised an amazing $12,021 with Mr Davis completing the task in 17 minutes, 43 seconds coming 144th out of 596 competitors. 

Firefighters registered to attempt the tower climb are from various agencies across Australia and New Zealand, including firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW and the NSW Rural Fire Service. The event is fully booked this year. 

Captain Jones said Davis is in training for this gruelling climb, and would aporecite the support of the local community to help find a cure for MND
