Former Souths, Wests and Canterbury-Bankstown forward Joe Thomas will travel to Narromine, Gilgandra and Mudgee during the Men of League Foundation’s Tackling the Drought Tour, which will commence on Friday, October 5.

Thomas, who passionately instigated the Tackling the Drought Tour conversation, will be joined by his former Bulldog teammate David ‘Cement’ Gillespie, as well as Australian Kangaroo Les Davidson and South Sydney Rabbitoh stalwart, Craig Coleman.
The bus will arrive in Narromine on Friday afternoon in time to watch ‘Rugby League the Musical’ with Denis Carnahan later that night followed by a coaching clinic the next morning for aspiring rugby league stars, before travelling to Gilgandra in the afternoon. After a night in Gilgandra, the bus will depart for Mudgee on Sunday morning for a touch football game before returning to Sydney on Sunday evening.

These activities as well as additional social gatherings will provide a much-needed morale boost to potential wellbeing recipients and introduce them to the support network that is available through the Men of League Foundation and its partners.
The Foundation supports the men, women and children of the rugby league community in need of a helping hand – everyone who helps support the great game throughout these local towns.
Men of League Foundation Chief Executive Officer Stephen Lowndes says that the wheels on the Tackling the Drought Tour bus are now well and truly in motion.
“It’s not long until the convoy of buses depart from our Sydney Head Quarters to five regional areas, all strong rugby league nurseries. Excitement is very much beginning to build,” Mr Lowndes said.
“Joe, David, Les and Craig have all generously offered their time to assist this fantastic cause, which we hope will bring a smile to the face of those who have been affected most by the tough season.”
“The tour is all about reaching out and connecting with the locals in regional New South Wales, who have bred some of rugby league’s best.
“The interest and support around our mission has been tremendous. We are hopeful of even more current and former first grade players registering their interest for the tour and giving back to the rugby league community,” Lowndes said.
