Ten gardens in the Narromine Shire were open to the public to raise funds for the Narromine Shire Cancer Support Group on Sunday October 14.

“It was a hugely successful event with in excess of $26,000 being the astounding outcome which will be used to help local residents who receive a cancer diagnosis and have to leave home for treatment,” Judy Barlow said.
“Hundreds of people from far and wide and many locals had a wonderful day viewing the Trangie gardens and Narromine gardens.”

The Trangie Gardens included ‘Yarraman’ on Enmore Road, ‘Old Cathundral on Gordon’s Lane, Muntham at 282 Quigley Carroll Road and gardens at 15 Albert Street, 16 Campbell Street and 29 Weemabah Street.
The Narromine Gardens included ‘Kirkton’ on Burroway Road, ‘Bokhara’ at 43 Nymagee Street, ‘Glen Haven Park’ at 447 Ceres Siding Road, at 90 Warren Road and at 115 Murgah Street.
“It has been a tough time with drought and severe frosts but recent rains made a huge difference to the gardens and visitors were delighted with what they saw,” Mrs Barlow said.
“Not only was this day a successful fund-raiser but it was also uplifting for many people who have been having a tough time struggling with drought to meet up with others and have a great social day out.”
Mrs Barlow thanked people who “put in a massive effort” to make their gardens “amazing”.
“A huge thank you to the garden owners Pam and Frank Ferrari, Tony and Cheryl Terry, Debbie and Hugh Irving, Sally and Tony Quigley and Robyn and Peter Wilson,” she said.
“Kath and Don Cross, Meg and Mike Bennett, George Mack, Tracy and Mal McIntyre, Amanda and Dean Adams.”
