BOWLS
It was very quiet on the Western Front & and the Narromine “Bowly” last week with just a couple of games of social bowls to report on, but inside the Club House it was all rocking and with more expected to turn up for our “MONSTAR” raffle this Thursday & “Maurice” & his Karaoke, plus the Fat lady warming up in the wings for New Year’s Eve, the “Bowly” is definitely the place you should be this Festive Season.

But firstly to what did happen last week on the greens!! Thursday saw some 20 lively lads take to the greens with the added incentive of the “COLES” vouchers to be won; it wasn’t surprising to see 4 keenly contested Rinks go round. Once again a Big thank you to Matthew & his Team from the local “COLES” supermarket for sponsoring our little outing and the lucky winners of the very popular said vouchers were Noel Delboux, Des Lincoln & David McNair, The silent Assassin has been in good form the last couple of weeks, nearly as good as “Oceanex”, and hopefully both will continue in the same vein over the summer months. Second spot on the podium went to Dale McCafferty & Danny Carnevale, with the other winning pair’s team of Sticker Martin & Bob Davis garnering third spot. Sunday’s chook run saw some 14 players go round with the day’s best being Colleen Heatrick & Bill Wilkie.
Just a reminder that Nominations for the upcoming Zone Championships have been called for and the Forms for all the Pairs & Singles events are posted on the notice board. Also a nomination sheet for next year’s pennants has been posted and it is hoped that intending players “PLONK” their names down before Christmas to assist the club in organizing any possible trial matches.
As this is my last column for 2018, on behalf of the Board of Management of the Narromine Bowling Club, may that Chubby Chap in the Red Suit delivers all your Christmas wishes.

GOLF
Unfortunately the rain came on the wrong day with Tuesday’s Business House competition having to be called off. This will mean that some of our older members who played in the morning will not receive any additions to their handicaps. Unfortunate.
On Saturday we had twelve starters in a Foursomes event sponsored by NGC. The winners with a 64½, (nett 70) were Scott Magill and Stephen Gillette. The runners up were Mick McKean and Chris Harding 66½.
Nearest the pins were Greg Barling on the 9th and Greg Kearines on the 10th.
On Sunday there were 11 starters in a 4B Aggregate sponsored by Phil Harding and Ian Taylor. The winners were Greg Kearines and Chris Harding with 77 points. The runners up were Jason McPherson and Tony Harding with 74 points.

Next Saturday we have an Irish Stableford sponsored by Steve and Megan Buckley and on Sunday there is a 2 Person Ambrose sponsored by Andrew Hocroft and Michael Treseder. The Narromine golf club will sponsor a 4BBB on the Wednesday 26th December (Boxing Day). The Tuesday night business competition will not run on Xmas Day but will start again on New Year’s Day.
GERRIES GOLF
Wins to Jeffery and Masling
Last Saturday a great field of 28 golfers turned up for the Christmas Ham prizes with weather being pleasant for the comp and the course in good condition following recent showers of rain.
In the Ladies division some 12 ladies played and Wendy Jeffery took the major prize with a fine round of 23 points.from Bev Woods close behind on 22 points taking second place.
Once aging there was no winner of the ladies NTP which continues to jackpot and is worth winning. The NAGA for the women went to Carol McDonald.
In the Mens event 16 men faced the starter with competition very keen for the coveted ham prizes.Winner was none other than Brian Masling with 26 points and he will face the chop from the handicapper.Incidentally he did mention changes will be made to the handicapping system which we will hear more about in the New Year.Runner up in the Mens division was Charlie Burrowes on 24 points and he defeated Ron Green on a count back. The NTP went to Vince Ferrari who narrowly defeated Chris Harding for the lowly golf ball prize. The mens NAGA prize went to Ross Fraser.
No pool competition this week as every body was off early to do their"Chrissie" shopping.
Next Saturday the girls are on the front nine, the boys on the back with the hit of at the usual time of 9.00 am.Ham prizes will be the order of the day and we are told there will be some nibbles after the game. As this is the last paper of the year the Gerries wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. The next issue of the paper will be on the January 16 so in the meantime you will have to tune to Terry's face book page for the results.
