Over 2400 people attended the race meeting, with police reporting no serious incidents occurring during the event.

Police however are investigating matters of minors using false identification to try to enter the licensed premises, as well as minors possessing alcohol.

A 42-year-old Trangie man was issued infringement notices up to $1600 for failing to leave a licensed premises when required, re-entering a licensed premises once excluded, and offensive behaviour.

Police are also investigating a report of a male suffering a facial injury during an alleged assault at the Trangie Racecourse car park at about 1.15am on Sunday morning.

It is believed that the male and his friend became involved in an altercation with another group of males.

Police are appealing for anyone who has either witnessed the incident, or has information that could assist police to contact Narromine police on 6889 1444 or Crimestoppers 1800 333 000.

Police ask that members of the public do not report crime or provide information via our social media pages.

Narromine Police Sergeant Michel Smith said overall he was pleased with the behaviour of all who attended the racing event. 

“Considering the large number of people at a licensed event, on a very hot day, it was pleasing to see that the majority of patrons acted responsibly and had a great day,” Sergeant Smith said.

“The number of incidents we had to deal with was very minor, given the large number of people in the area.”

“A great deal of work went into planning the event, which contributed greatly to the day being both a safe and successful day,” he said.
